Theatresports are coming to town!

VICTORIA - The Impromaniacs, Victoria's original improv troupe, are bringing Theatresports to Victoria's shores. In this popular, competitive improv format, two teams of trained improvisers will meet in a head to head matchup where only one team will impress the judges enough to be named the victor.

Theatresports was created by Keith Johnstone and the format has taken off in cities like Vancouver, Seattle, Edmonton and Calgary. The teams will challenge each other to create scenes on the spot with inpspiration from the audience.

"It's about time Victoria got a taste of traditional Theatresports," says Shawn Norman, the Impromaniacs Theatresports director, "we're very excited to put on the show and hope to see the program really take off here."

They have planned three evenings of Theatresports so far and we will definitely be seeing more of it in the new year.

You get Victoria’s own The Impromaniacs’ latest show, BAD MATH! Come join The Impromaniacs for a return to classic form, with an evening of exciting, hilarious and algebraically-correct short form improv games!

The evening will present an exciting variety of improvisational theatre styles as the Impromaniacs play all your favourite short form improv games. The entire show will be a rapid-fire procession of quick and quick-witted improv games that will offer plenty of chances for the audience to see their suggestions used on stage. Improv, like calculus is all about managing your variables, so The Impromaniacs have been studying hard to deliver one hilarious equation! When asked to comment, Impromaniacs media liaison Ryan Whyte said, “Well, I took calculus in university, so I think it’s going to be a fantastic show.”

The entire performance will be created before the audience’s eyes, as we take our inspiration from audience suggestions and instantly weave them into games and stories that are sure to delight!
