The Impromaniacs face off! “Cage Match” pits actors against each other. And you decide who wins!

VICTORIA – The Impromaniacs, Victoria’s premiere improvisational theatre company, are facing off .

On Thursday, January 12, 2006, they will be performing Cage Match: two teams of improvisers will perform, and then the audience gets to choose the winner.

“There are no losers in this show,” emphasized Morgan “The Tactician” Cranny. “Except, of course if you don’t win, but of course, if it goes to a shootout, each team is guaranteed one point.”
The Victoria Event Centre will be the home for improv suplexes and comedy body slams as the cage match heats up.

“I have to remind everyone that this is an exhibition, not a competition, so please, no wagering,” explained Jonathan “The Diva” Argue. “However, if you do decide to lay down some coin on this – put it on my team – we’re going to kick butt.”

Showtime will be 8:00 pm at the Victoria Event Centre. Tickets will be $10, and $8 for students and seniors. Tickets will be available at the door. They also can be purchased at Lyle’s Place (770 Yates St.) And our regular special is in effect: if you buy your tickets in advance – we’ll give you 3 bucks off!

Music and Theatre both have a strong history of improvisation. And now they will be brought together at the Victoria Event Centre.

The Impromaniacs open up - “Found Objects" lets improvisers be themselves.

VICTORIA – The Impromaniacs, Victoria’s premiere improvisational theatre company, are going to share a little bit of themselves in their monthly Victoria Event Centre Show. Their November show will be “Found Objects”, created by Randy Dixon of Unexpected Productions in Seattle.

“Some folks will remember that Found Objects was our centrepiece of the Victoria International Improv Festival last year,” noted Performance Director Morgan Cranny. “We received such a great reaction to it, that we’re going to do it again.”

In Found Objects, each performing improviser will be bringing an item that they have a strong personal attachment to. “Whenever we are holding our own object, we have to be ourselves,” explained Production director Clare Jennings. “And there is nothing scarier to an actor than being themselves.”

Showtime will be 7:30 pm at the Victoria Event Centre. Tickets will be $10, and $8 for students and seniors. Tickets will be available at the door. They also can be purchased at Lyle’s Place (770 Yates St.) If you buy your tickets in advance – we’ll give you 3 bucks off!
